Humber offers through Continuing Education the SolidWorks Designer Certificate program which focuses on developing the skills and knowledge required to work as a SolidWorks designer. See Registration and Details
This one-year program is for the graduating secondary school, college or university student, or mature applicant, who has a clear interest in visual art and design. The program is an excellent choice for those applicants who want to either upgrade or build their portfolio of work, or delay a choice in a specific area of design education, while considering options for the future. We offer a broad based preparatory design education. In semester 1 there are courses that deal with design skills, techniques and processes, and in semester 2 various professional career choices are studied while comprehensive portfolios are developed and refined.
For more information on any of the following, please see the current Academic Calendar.
The program prepares students to be portfolio ready when applying for positions in diploma or degree programs in various design disciplines the following year. These programs can be at Humber College or other post-secondary institutions.
In an international survey of salaries in six design categories, Canadian designers earned an average of $48,800 US in 2007, enough to place Canada fifth out of 21 countries. If you have a strong interest in the visual arts and want a career full of creative possibilities, you can begin to lay the groundwork while exploring your options in this program.
Students use a drawing table and work in a drafting studio. Students must have use of a 35mm digital camera and purchase a design kit for $600 including one required reading text during the program.
Humber College supplies the software in the computer labs that the students will work with. This software includes Photoshop and Illustrator.
