Shawn Cleary’s major area of strength is in drinking water treatment, wastewater management, municipal infrastructure, and environmental engineering.  He has worked in design consulting in both the water and wastewater industry, as well as in the fields of aquaculture and water resources engineering. He has a special interest in sustainable solutions for small and rural communities in both developed and developing countries, and is currently pursuing applied research that focuses on appropriate water treatment technology for First Nations and far north communities in Canada.  His overseas work involves improving access to clean drinking water in developing communities, and has trained a number of NGOs in several areas of the world.
