Work Terms are an integral part of most programs in the School of Applied Technology. Work terms blend classroom learning with valuable, practical work experience. These paid work terms typically occur during the summer months, prior to the final year of study.

Benefits of Participating in a Work Term:

  • Get a head start on your career!
  • Gain valuable, practical work experience.
  • Apply what you learn in school to real-world problems or situations,
  • Gain new skills and experience “on-the-job”,
  • Experience what its like to work for a particular employer, or in a particular position or field,
  • Add to your network of people in your field, including people who can provide you with a reference for other jobs.
  • Earn money.
  • Gain (more) insight into your career goals and interests.

Participating in a work term significantly improves your chances of getting a good job when you graduate. And, employers typically offer higher wages to new graduates with work experience.
