Humber students cook at Innovators’ Ball

Susur Lee requests students’ in-kitchen support

Toronto, Ontario – April 27, 2009 – Humber College culinary students will be working alongside acclaimed chef Susur Lee at the LG Innovators’ Ball, the Ontario Science Centre’s gala fundraiser on April 30, 2009. Twenty certificate and diploma students will be working with Lee to prepare hors d’oeuvres and dinner for the more than 450 attendees.

“I requested support from Humber’s culinary program because of the positive experience I’ve had with the college’s interns and apprentices,” says Lee. “The Innovators’ Ball kitchen is a high-pressure zone to make sure the food is perfect for the prestigious event. Humber’s culinary students have the skill, poise and confidence to deliver high quality and delicious food.”

Humber students are well-trained to work at all types of culinary events. Award-winning chefs teach in leading-edge kitchen labs. The labs use innovative induction cooking technology, as well as conventional gas and electric methods. This wide range of training enables Humber culinary students to cook in most kitchens around the world.

“Humber provides many opportunities for our students to use their superior culinary skills. From local events to international internships, Humber students are in demand,” says Rudi Fischbacher, Humber’s culinary management program coordinator who will be with students and instructors at the gala dinner.
