Humber students bring Lakeshore community’s history to life

Toronto, Ontario – September 9, 2010 – Humber College’s Theatre Production and Theatre Performance students will present New Toronto: a series of one-of-a-kind, site-specific performances inspired by the Lakeshore community on Saturday, September 11 at 12:00 noon at the Humber Arts & Media Studios (the former Lakeshore Lions Arena).

Humber students researched the content for each performance by visiting local businesses such as the Mastercard Centre for Hockey Excellence, Humber College and the Lakeshore Arts Gallery where they conducted interviews, took photos and video footage for use during their creative process.

From their research, students created nine theatre sketches inspired by the places they visited in the neighbourhood.   The performance pieces will run concurrently each hour between 12 and 3pm. Each performance will last approximately 15 minutes.

The event is open to the public and admission is free.
