This course covers both the physical and theoretical components of public speaking. Students explore the roots of Aristotles rhetorical competence through examination of various approaches to public speaking rhetorical tradition, classical approach and social science contribution. Business audiences expect explicit information, intelligent persuasion and credible content to influence their decisions. In this course, students develop vital and compelling presentations using the principles of speech communication. Students apply the theories of influence, nature and persuasion through individual, in-class presentations using appropriate audio/visual support. Analysis of taped professional speakers and live student presentations are conducted.
