This course challenges students, through analysis of self-assessments, to develop concrete and usable supervision, management and leadership skills. It differentiates key management and leadership concepts and how these can be applied in a rapidly changing global environment. The course compares and contrasts the traits, behaviours and attributes of supervisors, managers and leaders. It analyzes leadership skills, such as decision-making, motivation, followership and conflict resolution - skills required to build effective working relationships with individuals and teams. It also explores key factors that impact effective leadership in today's hospitality industry, including the global marketplace and diversity.
