The End of Life Care for Personal Support Worker certificate program provides you with the required knowledge regarding foundational end of life care principles. You will learn how to use effective communication and other strategies to create a therapeutic relationship with clients and their families. Comfort measures for the common physical, emotional, and psychosocial symptoms experienced at the end of life will be discussed. Pain management, as well as caring for clients experiencing other symptoms such as delirium, dyspnea, nausea and vomiting, and gastrointestinal problems are covered. Grief and coping, as it relates to clients and families, but also self-care of the health-care worker, is also a significant focus.
