Home Inspection Certificate of Achievement | HOME_INSP_CA
The Home Inspection certificate program prepares you for a rapidly growing profession and an exciting and challenging career with the opportunity to operate your own business. If you enjoy helping people and enjoy the challenge of finding problems to help your client make an informative decision about purchasing a property, then this career is for you.
Home inspection involves the assessment of the condition of residential and light commercial buildings. It is a unique discipline, distinct from construction, engineering, architectural or municipal building inspection and requiring its own set of professional guidelines and qualifications.
Our program focuses on developing the skills and knowledge required to work as a home inspector. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to utilize their skills and knowledge to inspect and report on the physical condition of the various systems of the home including the roof, exterior, foundation, plumbing, electrical, heating, cooling, interiors and insulation.
Humber offers a mentorship program to help students obtain required field hours needed to become a registered home inspector, for more information see HMIN 505 On-Site Inspections and Mentoring.
Note: HMIN 100 Introduction to Home Inspection is a prerequisite for all courses in the program and should be the one of your first course(s), with the exception of the two Ontario building code courses (HMIN 109 OBC Part 9 Building Envelope and HMIN 200 OBC Part 9 Health and Safety).
