At some point in our lives we all encounter difficulties. This can create distress and interfere with our well being, success and growth. Most of the time we can deal with these difficulties on our own but on occasion we may need some assistance. Counselling can help students to work through and resolve these difficulties, whether they be personal, academic or career related.
Counsellors will:
Counselling provides a confidential, non-judgemental setting where you can discuss whatever difficulties are of most concern to you. The counsellor will listen carefully, ask questions and work with you to overcome barriers that are preventing you from being successful both academically and personally.

Counsellors do not generally offer opinions, give direct advice, or tell the student what to do. We listen and provide a safe space for students to talk, explore and work through their difficulties. Students are provided with the help they need to come to their own decisions.
All counsellors are professionals with a graduate degree. The counselling team is diverse with respect to age, gender, race and culture.
As Humber is a learning environment, we provide supervised placements for graduate student interns. You may be given an appointment with a student intern, hoverer if you wish; you may request a Humber Counsellor.
