Counsellors work sensitively and respectfully with students who are experiencing emotional stress and need assistance. We offer:
- Assistance with a variety of issues including: relationship issues, family issues, depression, anxiety, grief & loss, assault, abuse, substance abuse, sexuality, stress management
- Help in developing greater self awareness and enhanced coping skills
- Crisis intervention. This may include referrals to external resources
Academic
Counsellors can assist you in reaching your educational goals. We offer:
- Assistance with program choice and educational planning
- Information on university transfer and the application process
- Help in developing strategies to improve your academic performance
- Customized classroom workshops to meet program specific needs
- Learning Skills Workshops to assist with test preparation, test anxiety, memory and concentration, reading, note taking, and time management etc.
Career
Counsellors can assist you with your academic and career goals. We offer:
- Identification of skills and areas of career interest
- Assessments that link personality and interests to specific career areas
- Help with career exploration and decision making
- Assistance with the development of short and long term career goals
- Resources for career information
- Referrals to job search services
Traumatic Event Support Network
TESN BROCHURE
The tragic events support network (TESN) is a volunteer service of Humber`s Faculty, staff, and administration offering confidential support to all members of the College community as they deal with the impact of tragic incidents. The service provides assistance to those involved in coping with loss of varying degrees of severity. TESN is part of Humber`s coordinated response to emergencies and critical incidents.
This service for the Humber Community is coordinated by Counselling Services.
