Students will explore the various organizational structures and types of business ownership commonly found in in Canada, as well as the environmental forces influencing the nature of organizations. Students will examine the purposes and activities of organizations of various types, sizes and structures, and the interrelationship among the functional areas within the organization. Students will study the dynamic relationships among business, government and labour and the impact of competition on businesses of various sizes. Students will be introduced to the concepts of entrepreneurship, business marketing and the business plan and will learn basic business management as it relates to assets, liabilities, taxation, payroll and bookkeeping.
