CADD Structural Detailing

The course will consist of three sections. Section 1: The student will review the commands and skills learnt in CIVL202 CADD2. Then the more advanced commands and features of the latest AutoCAD release will be shown and exercises using these advanced features will be completed. Section 2: The student will construct layouts, sections and details to produce working drawings of reinforced concrete structures, and details of the concrete structure and steel-reinforcing layout to be used at the construction stage. Comprehensive bar lists to configurations obtained from the Manual of Standard Practice will be produced by the student. AutoCAD will be used as a basic drafting tool. Relevant features of the latest AutoCAD release will also be introduced. Students will learn the terminology required for the detailing of reinforced concrete structures. Typical reinforced concrete project drawings will be introduced, highlighting industry drafting and detailing standards. Students will use industry accepted detailing standards (CAN/CSA-A23.3, CAN/CSA-S6-00 [CHBDC] and the Reinforcing Steel Manual of Standard Practice will be referenced. Section 3: The student will construct layouts, sections and details to produce working drawings for structural steel structures. Comprehensive schedules in accordance to configurations obtained from the Manual of Standard Practice will be produced by the student. AutoCAD will be used as a basic drafting tool. Relevant features of the latest AutoCAD release will also be introduced. Students will learn the terminology required for the detailing of structural steel connections and layouts. Typical structural steel project drawings will be introduced, highlighting industry drafting and detailing standards in accordance with Fundamentals of Structural Shop Drafting by the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction. 3
