Course Description
Students study how journalists approach their coverage of books, authors and the publishing world. The course compares print and broadcast models using real examples from newspapers, television, radio and the Internet. Book reviewing is covered in addition to various other forms of reporting related to the books area. Students examine media needs and priorities, through class exercises that place them in the role of the arts journalist. A review of publishing-related careers in the media informs students of opportunities related to their publishing backgrounds.
