Methods of Construction 1 gives students an overview of the life-cycle stages and construction materials and practices for building and infrastructure projects. The course focuses on the required practices and procedures from the initial conceptual stage leading-up to the construction stage of a project. Major topics include conceptual schematic design, site investigations, agency approvals, working drawings and project manual, and tender process. This course is a prerequisite for CIVL 311 Methods of Construction, which focuses primarily on materials and methods commonly used during construction.
