The emphasis of Clinical Placement 1 is on TCM diagnosis and herbal medicine. Students will learn to apply knowledge of TCM theory and herbology foundations in supervised clinical practice settings. With direct patient contact, students will develop caring, compassionate and respectful relationships and develop herbal medicine treatment plans in a safe and competent manner. They will perform TCM clinical assessment techniques on patients and make TCM diagnosis; differentiate TCM syndromes, develop treatment principles, select herbal formulas, as well as monitor treatment outcomes. Students will be trained to act in a professional and ethical manner while using communication, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills in everyday practice.
