In this course the students will gain an experience of control system design, combining and applying their knowledge from the previous studies of electricity, electrical equipment, Canadian Electrical Code, controls and computer aided design. This course familiarizes students with the main steps of process control system design. The students must create the documentation of the control system including Process and Instrumentation Drawing (P&ID), Bill of Materials, electrical diagrams and the control panel layout, as well as select all the components of the control system using online catalogs. Proper selection of PLC and its modules as well as the operator interface is expected. Students are required to use computer aided drawing and design techniques to prepare all documentation.
