Project Management

COURSE Code: CPAN 410
4 Credits

Course Description

Project Management is a central part of the creation of software and other endeavors in Information Technology. It is not terribly mysterious: all projects have clients, developers, and users. All projects are limited in scope, budget, and time. All projects require planning, documentation, and evaluation. It is not a matter of just doing the work: it is a matter of knowing what to do, how to do it, and how you know it is going to work.

This course is an introduction to project management. Students will be exposed to the basic theories, techniques, and rationales of project management. Working in teams students will be engaged in project management activities: meetings, documentation, and writing. These will culminate in a final presentation where students will have to publicly describe what they have done and why in a project management and information technology context. Microsoft Project will be used in this course.
