This course explores modern colour theory to include a variety of concepts, as well as many practical uses of colour within interiors. This colour course considers three important aspects: 1. the psychology of visual perception, 2. human response to visual imagery and 3. communication using colour. In addition, the course investigates how designers develop and best utilize colour within environments. By using a combination of lectures and assignments, students are encouraged to apply informed, yet practical colour theory principles to their projects. This course teaches students to select colour wisely and deliberately. In addition, students identify the physical, chemical and psychological aspects of colour, which flourish within the decorating industry and they learn to apply their knowledge to practical decorating projects using colour solutions. Students in this colour course explore both esthetic aspects of colour in order to fulfil highly utilitarian tasks.
