Course Code

ECE 112

Academic Year

2016-2017

Provides an overview of the biological, psychological, social and cultural influences on the development of the individual from conception to death. Major theoretical perspectives and principles of life-span development are a focus, with additional inquiry into how these perspectives influence the ways behaviour is explained and the implications for social practices and self-understanding. Interrelationships between individual and group behaviours, broader social contexts within which they occur and influences upon the formation of identity and experience are explored. Examines ways in which knowledge of human development is produced and evaluated by scholars, practitioners, the media, and the public.
