This course introduces students to alternating current (AC) circuits. The effects of inductance and capacitance on single phase AC circuits, the effect of the R/C/L component on power factor and power factor correction will be covered. Basic magnetic circuits, the laws of magnetism with emphasis on their applications to electromechanical circuits and single phase AC circuits and transformers. Direct current (DC) and AC motor / generator principles, characteristics and applications will be introduced.
