This course deals with the remediation of contaminated sites - with emphasis on the environmental site assessment process and cleanup of soil/groundwater for residential or public access uses. Subject matter includes causes and effects of hydrocarbon contamination, transport mechanisms, clean-up criteria, and conventional/innovative engineering methods of remediation. The course also deals with on-/off-site spill contingency planning and responses to environmental emergencies such as oil/chemical spills on land, into rivers and lakes.
