The ESL Classroom 2

TESL 5015 provides students with introductory knowledge and skills related to the adult ESL classroom, focusing on a variety of teaching approaches, methods, and techniques. This course will focus on the practical application into the ESL classroom of TESL theory in relation to: Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) and curriculum, ESL literacy, materials development, assessment (i.e., principles of second language testing, techniques and interpretation of second language assessment of students progress and proficiency, including portfolios, consideration of standardized and CLB-based tests, classroom test development, competence and performance, error correction), academic English, and reflective teaching.
