This course is designed to facilitate the student's transition from learner to working professional. This component provides the student with the opportunity to apply the skills acquired in the program in a workplace setting. Each student will be required to complete a minimum of 245 hours (seven weeks X five days X seven hours = 245 hours) of fieldwork. Students will have a variety of options available to them as to how to complete this integral final portion of the program. However, all activities related to the course must occur in a positive environment conducive to learning and must be conducted under the direction of a program-approved sponsor.Students have the option to secure full-time employment directly related to developing websites or secure an internship/co-op where the student will work on a website project. Students may complete a web project for a client or group of clients. In this case, the student would present a detailed plan of the project and responsibilities to the program co-ordinator for approval. In all cases, the facilitating sponsor will act as the student supervisor or mentor. The student and sponsor will establish realistic performance objectives that build on the skills developed in the Web Development program. Participating sponsors will agree to evaluate the student's performance on the job. Students will submit a weekly internship report to the Humber program co-ordinator. A Humber representative and the sponsor will consult when deemed necessary.
