Course Code

SSW 257

Academic Year

2016-2017

Students will undertake an in-depth field experience doing front-line work in a human services agency under direct supervision. Students will learn how their agency works, how to serve clients effectively, and how to develop work habits which make them an asset to the agency. Students will learn how to work well as part of a team, and how to effectively use supervision. Students will be expected to maintain a record of their placement activities through the submission of a field learning contract, time sheets and assignments. During seminar classes, students will discuss practice based issues and concerns and developments in their field placements. Students guide much of the discourse in this course, as it relates to their learning needs, while faculty ensure that pertinent issues related to field work are addressed.
