Stories for Life: Shorter Fiction

COURSE Code: GASA L25
3 Credits

Course Description

Short stories - with their compact form and swift delivery of a single spellbinding effect or significant event - are particularly appropriate for our fast-paced 21st century. These compact vignettes of human interaction provide quick, penetrating insights into universal human experiences, revealing much about who we are and what is important to us. Like the myths and legends, fairy tales and fables of their oral ancestry, well-formed short stories can help unravel and explain the chaos and contradictions of the real world. They provide metaphorical and allegorical templates to help us meet the challenges of personal growth and change.
