COURSE Code: GAST N05
3 Credits
Course Description
This course has been designed to introduce students to the concepts that form the basis of modern chemistry. Students will review the behaviours of solids, liquids, gases and solutions, as well as investigate the changes and relationships in chemical systems. They will broaden their understanding of chemistry by studying organic chemistry, energy changes and rates of reaction, chemical systems and equilibrium, electrochemistry, and atomic and molecular structure. Students will develop problem-solving skills and laboratory skills as they explore chemical processes. Students will also strengthen their technical reading and writing skills through the communication of scientific information. The course will emphasize the importance of chemistry in daily life, as well as in the study of nursing and technology.
