This course is a study of the history of furniture, architecture and art with a primary focus on design eras as seen through the eyes of the Western world. The course will begin by exploring the Egyptian era and will then progressively move forward in time. Lectures and applied projects will discuss a variety of historically important buildings, artifacts and interiors from design periods that continue to influence décor today. Examples and corresponding influences sited in this course will become the historic foundation that decoration students will draw upon in order to build design inspiration.
