Course Description
This course will introduce the student to professional beverage service, in preparation for the internship and Humber Room experiences, and future employment in the food and beverage sector. There is a twofold emphasis in this course. The first will engage the student in a study of the spirits in the industry today. This will be a theoretical and practical application, with beverage preparation skills introduced and reinforced through practical applications. The second module in this course will focus on beers. Students will learn about the domestic and international beer production industry, the differences in appearance and tastes of beers, and how to plan food menus with beer. Both modules will be supported with product samplings to enhance the students' knowledge of the products.
