Course Description
This course defines the tourism industry, one of Canada's largest industries and employers, and the various sectors that work together to meet tourist needs and expectations. Transportation, accommodations, food and beverage, attractions, events and conferences, adventure tourism and outdoor recreation, travel trade, and tourism services are the eight sectors making up the tourism industry. This course will introduce the student to the Canadian tourism industry, its key associations, companies, host and guest models and the planning process. This course will introduce career choices in this industry and prepare students for further study in their chosen fields.
