This is the first Design Studio course in the program. The product design method will be introduced, and applied to their projects. Following a clear statement of purpose, designs are developed to meet aesthetic and performance criteria. Through collaborative studio activities, students will develop solutions to specific design problems. The technique of design critique is used for students to present, promote and defend their design concepts. Presentations also afford opportunities to compare designs and to analyze the different influences and theoretical frameworks that result in different design solutions.
