"The students will spend three days a week, for fifteen weeks in an internship setting relevant to CYC practice, working directly with children, youth and their families. Internship will provide opportunities for CYC students to work from a developmental and ecological perspective, to assess and respond to the strength and needs of various client groups, and to maintain an anti-oppression perspective in their work. The Internship will also provide opportunities for students to form therapeutic relationships and use moment-to-moment, daily life events as opportunities to promote and facilitate positive change. Students are expected to plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based and strength-based interventions in the areas of therapeutic milieu and programming, group work and advocacy.Students will also be expected to focus on developing organizational and personal awareness to enhance their work as a CYC practitioner.
