The professional demands of the health science fields, as evidenced by the complexity of new technology and information systems, necessitate advanced levels of literacy.
This course requires students to become familiar with the basics of the fundamentals of analytical reading and writing. The primary objective is to develop the students' ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and objectively about relevant health care subjects and support the application of these skills in all program courses. To help students reach these goals, the course covers the following: analytical reading and critical thinking; essay organization and development; and the elements of clear writing, including grammar and punctuation skills.
Graduates will produce writing that meets or surpasses the minimum college standards as set out in the criterion sheet.
