This communications course is designed to help the fire service student develop writing, reading and researching skills. A basis of communication theory and its application in daily life will provide the introduction to the course. Course material and assignments will be career related. In writing practice, you will be working on the development of clear, grammatical prose with college-level vocabulary and style. The assignments will cover a variety of writing strategies. In reading practice, you will develop critical thinking skills by analyzing a variety of rhetorical patterns. This course will also emphasize the strategies of effective business communication practice, you will develop critical thinking skills by analyzing a variety of rhetorical patterns.
