Material Testing

The student will be able to describe the manufacture, performance and application of materials used in building and road construction. Sessions will involve the most commonly performed laboratory tests on these materials, concentrating on concrete, steel, timber and asphalt products. The student will acquire knowledge on the theory behind testing procedures, and be able to measure relative stress and the resulting strain or deformation due to the applied and extrapolated magnitude of loads.
