This course gives an introduction to PC-based control system comparing to traditional programmable logic controller (PLC). This course leads you step by step from basic logic to computer architecture, electronic circuit to computer interface, and PLC simulation to sequential control design. This course provides hands-on experience in using microcomputers for factory automation. Students will build or use the appropriate interface to connect a microcomputer to shop floor devices. Writing computer programs to perform specific tasks is included.
