This is a project-based course in which students work in teams to design, develop and deploy functional mobile interface projects. Students first get a grasp on mobile design by individually creating a mobile project that can be deployed on numerous smartphone platforms. The second, and larger, project places students in a three- to four-person team to create a mobile project while considering entrepreneurial thinking. The project is conducted in three stages: sketch and proposal stage; design and development prototype stage; and final product presentation. This course uses experiential and peer learning, placing an emphasis on students learning through problem solving within collaborative group projects. Demonstration-style classes will be complemented with practical applications of new learning exercises. Industry practices on development (such as pair programming) and user centered design processes will be used to create an environment that echoes industry experience while maintaining the safety and emphasis on learning within the school environment.
