Course Description
The Chronic Health Challenges’ course focuses on the impact/influences of long-term health challenges on clients and their families. It examines rehabilitative and supportive nursing practice. The purpose of this course is: 1. To increase awareness of chronic health challenges and the meaning of those from the client perspective, and 2. To understand the theoretical basis for assessment, intervention, promotion/prevention and support of clients and families experiencing chronic health challenges. Rehabilitation is a dynamic process that involves effort by the client, family and health care provider. The clients are guided toward expanded freedom to mobilize resources on their behalf. An optimum level of function is achieved through recognition of the uniqueness and wholeness of the individual.
