Course Description
This course is designed to provide the Practical Nursing student with the requisite knowledge and skills to carry out a health assessment within the framework of Roy's Adaptation Model and to perform basic nursing care for individuals across the lifespan. Throughout this course the practical nursing student will practice simulated clinical scenarios encompassing various levels of wellness. Quality Assurance reflective Practice and the College of Nurses of Ontario: Standards of Practice will be introduced as a framework for students to develop an individualized learning plan. Learners will participate in QA and RP by completing a self-assessment tool and initiation of a professional portfolio. QA in the form of RP will continue in each semester of the PN program.
