Students explore leadership, management and organizational theories as these apply to nursing and health care. Students examine the effects of change, organizational culture, power dynamic and role conflict on nursing practice. The responsibility to act in the best interest of and protect the public and to promote safe practice environment is discussed. Students apply critical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills related to assigning, supervising, evaluating outcomes of care; teaching of unregulated care provider (UCP'); and the delegation of acts to UCP's. The role of research findings in the development and evaluation of personal learning goals and professional practice, evidence-informed practice and clinical outcomes is studied. Students explore contemporary trends in health technologies, nursing informatics, communication and social media as these are changing nursing and the health-care environment.
