Course Code

CYC 208

Academic Year

2016-2017

This course examines the diagnosis, classification, causes and treatment of psychological disorders in children, adolescents and young adults. It develops an understanding of symptoms of disorders, of treatment plans and formulations for successful intervention to specific disorders, of the views of abnormal versus normal behaviours, and of specific disorders and aspects of abnormal psychology. Every attempt is made to develop critical thinking regarding child and youth care practice with labelled populations. Students are encouraged to explore their own style while linking the theory and practice.
