The selling of tourism destinations is becoming an increasingly important topic as regions become more reliant on tourism as an economic driver. Furthermore, destinations operate in a highly competitive marketplace, with an ever-increasing abundance of choice for the consumer. As a tourism professional, then, you must be able to sell the product as an experience. In this course, you enhance your understanding of the value and relationship between sales and geographic/destination knowledge, by analysing physical geography, tourism patterns, target markets, and cultural, social and environmental factors. Through reading, research, lectures, presentations, and discussions, you develop the essential destination knowledge required to successfully sell and promote tourism destinations within North America, Caribbean, Central and South America.
