The selling of tourism destinations is a key factor as regions become more reliant on tourism as an economic driver. Destinations operate in a very competitive marketplace with an ever-increasing abundance of choice for the consumer. It is essential that tourism professionals sell products as an experience, to draw consumer attention. This course analyses the conceptual relationship between physical geography, cultural identity, and various tourism activities as they drive the tourism experiences and sales. Through readings, research, lectures, presentations, and discussions, students develop the essential destination knowledge required to successfully sell the experiences associated with key tourism destinations within Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Central and South America.
