This course will provide students with a basic knowledge of the marketing process, which includes understanding of the marketing environment, population demographics, targets and segments including geographic, psychographic, behavior response and competitive positioning. The marketing mix of the four P?s ? product, place, price, promotion ? are explored in both the generic concept of marketing and, most importantly, in the concept of services marketing, which is essential to the spa industry. Additionally, brand, logo and advertising are emphasized, culminating in the creation of a spa brochure by each student. Students will also interpret marketing activities directed toward them as spa owners.
