This course is a continuation of Statics and Strength of Materials 1. Students will learn to: design statically determinate beams, trusses and columns; draw shear force, bending moment and axial force diagrams; calculate direct and bending stresses for various structural elements; calculate safe loading on columns using buckling criteria. Computerized structural analysis programs will be used for structural analysis.
