Abstractions of line, mass and form have their place in representational, objective art and subjective art. This course explores those options through dimensional geometric primitives (volumetric contour drawing) which will be implemented as constructs upon which to build visual, contemporary frameworks of the objective and subjective world. Simplification to aid the powers of visualization in imaginative drawing and compositional possibilities will be examined in the process of dividing the limitation of the traditional rectangular format into a more experiential platform. Emphasis, balance, contrast, line, tone, colour, form, pattern and geometry will be examined for their power as compositional elements through the visualization and compositional elements of works.
