Sustainable Tourism is the future of a global Tourism industry. Tourism and travel products and services trending demand from consumers today. This course examines the growth and development of tourism destinations, the concept of globalization, and the topic of sustainability as they relate to the tourism industry. The factors which influence globalization, international tourism demand, and sustainability will be explored through historical events, business cases, and real life industry scenarios that highlight the key themes and challenges experienced by destinations and suppliers. Students will create plans to deal with these related influencing factors. They will be actively involved in researching the economic, environmental and socio-cultural impacts of tourism, and will explore the strategies for maximizing benefits and minimizing adverse effects.
