This course is designed to introduce the student to basic electrical theory and transmission line concepts as they relate to network cabling. Basic electrical theory including voltage, current, resistance, Ohm's law, direct current (DC), alternating current (AC), and simple series and parallel circuits will be covered. Electrical characteristics including inductance, capacitance and impedance and their influence on network transmission is discussed. Students perform lab experiments to observe the relationship between different electrical characteristics.
