This introductory course defines the tangible and intangible elements of the tourism industry. The key roles of various tourism sectors and the interrelationship of products and services are examined in order to meet customer needs, motivations and expectations. Current industry practices, trends and technologies are explored through sector specific Canadian and international companies and associations. Students are introduced to a wide range of exciting career opportunities in the world s largest and most dynamic industry. Note: This course includes a mandatory field trip (and may be scheduled on a Saturday). Cost of the field trip and the date is announced in class.
