Course Description

Combinations of substrates and both point and paint media will be further explored in increasing depth. Traditional, established, professional approaches such as pencil, ink, line and wash, opaque watercolour and scratchboard will be practiced, along with multimedia explorations. Students will be encouraged to develop deeper familiarity with a variety of media, surfaces and materials. As an intermediate step toward developing individual creative maturity in one's voice as a visual artist, students are encouraged to begin to focus on a preferred medium and stylistic expression. Creative responses to visual challenges will continue to train the imagination and further encourage evolution of individual expression.
